State will help Thurston public defense office hire two new lawyers
Thurston County’s ailing misdemeanor public defense services will get a nearly half-million dollar boost this week, lifting the office out of a crisis some critics said had the county headed for a malpractice lawsuit.
Oregon ranks low in loss payouts in malpractice cases
PORTLAND (AP) - Medical malpractice claim payouts in Oregon are lower than those in all but seven other states despite the elimination of a cap on such awards in 1999, a new study shows.
