Washington Senate Approves Changes To Medical Malpractice System
The Washington state Senate on Wednesday unanimously approved the changes to the state's medical malpractice system announced by Gov. Chris Gregoire (D) on Monday, the Olympian reports. WASHINGTON — Sens. Max Baucus, D-Mont., and Mike Enzi, R-Wyo., introduced legislation Thursday that would provide grants to 10 states to set up pilot projects they hope will answer the problem of medical malpractice lawsuits.

TUPELO — Physician-owned Medical Assurance Co. of Mississippi, which covers about 70 percent of the state's physicians, announced a 5 percent decrease in 2006 malpractice rates and a 10 percent refund on 2005 premiums.
