Governor signs medical malpractice reform law
Gov. Rod Blagojevich on Thursday signed a new law that attempts to hold down steep medical malpractice costs for doctors by limiting the amount of money people can collect in lawsuits against hospitals and physicians.
Large medical malpractice verdicts and settlements did not cause the rapid increase in insurance premiums for doctors and hospitals since 1999 in Texas, according to a study to be released today.
