Malpractice insurer to buy major rival based in L.A.
The Doctors Co., a private doctor-owned medical malpractice insurer, has agreed to acquire SCPIE Holdings Inc., a major health-care liability insurer with operations in California and Delaware, for approximately $281 million in cash.
