Fatal mistake: Malpractice award too large
I read with interest the article relating to a huge jury award given to a woman whose mammogram was misread as clear in 2002, and then in 2004, she was found to have terminal breast cancer ("Jury awards dying woman $5.7 million," Nov. 25).
A 4-3 decision last month by the Wisconsin Supreme Court that overturned a $350,000 state cap on noneconomic damages in medical malpractice lawsuits "toppled what had been a highly successful medical liability reform," a Wall Street Journal editorial states.
