Insurance issues thwart mobile health clinics
A non-profit health center in Fremont, Ohio, raised money to send a mobile health unit to the Mississippi coast, where a sister facility had been wiped out by Hurricane Katrina. The center learned that its government-provided malpractice insurance would not cover staff if they practiced outside Ohio.
As we prepare to head out into “career world,” many of us have been told to accept that lawsuits come with the territory. Going to be a doctor? Expect a malpractice suit. Running a fast food chain? Expect to get sued if the coffee’s too hot. Working for a car manufacturer? You’re in for a lawsuit as well.
Westfield woman wins $3.7 million judgment in malpractice case
A Marion County jury has awarded a Westfield woman and her daughter a $3.7 million judgment in a malpractice case arising from the girl's troubled birth.
