Medical malpractice rates start to fall
The swelling bank accounts at medical malpractice insurers is leading to relief for Florida doctors who have experienced years of double-digit rate increases.

The Georgia Supreme Court on Monday struck down a key portion of a much debated law that lets medical malpractice defendants move a lawsuit to their home county if that's where the alleged offense occurred.
GOP Candidate Romney Calls for Cap on Medical Malpractice Costs
In an Iowa medical school address focusing on health care, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney last week called for placing federal caps on non-economic and punitive damages in medical malpractice lawsuits. Said Romney, "These lottery-sized awards and frivolous lawsuits may enrich the trial lawyers but they put a heavy burden on doctors, hospitals and the entire health care system."
