SANTA ANA, Calif. ( Map , News ) - A medical malpractice lawsuit filed by the family of an Orange County girl who started breathing again after she fell into a pool and was declared dead in 2003 is scheduled to go to trial Monday.
Lawyer held in criminal contempt
In a medical malpractice case last week, plaintiff's attorney R. Sadler Bailey repeatedly called defense attorneys liars and told the judge her rulings could "set a world record for error." On Wednesday, Bailey was led from the courtroom in handcuffs after Circuit Court Judge Karen Williams held him in direct criminal contempt of court.
Wise backs fund for malpractice claims
Representatives Phil Wise (D-Keokuk), Janet Petersen, and Dave Jacoby introduced a plan Monday to help keep young doctors in Iowa and control the cost of malpractice insurance for physicians. They are joined by seven other House cosponsors.
