Malpractice premiums will rise 2.9% in 2006
The price of insurance Colorado doctors buy to protect themselves against malpractice suits will rise just 2.9 percent next year, the smallest rise in four years, according to the company that insures 80 percent of the state's physicians.

The insurance company that insured the doctor at the center of the hepatitis C scare says it shouldn't be held liable for his alleged malpractice. The state Insurance Department has approved a medical malpractice rate increase of 14 percent for 2007-08, following years of "artificially" low rate increases.
