LOUISVILLE - In a blunt assessment to fellow doctors, Gov. Ernie Fletcher said Monday that chances of limiting pain-and-suffering damages in medical malpractice cases are bleak because of resistance from some state lawmakers.

A Parkersburg hospital has been ordered to pay a $1.3 million sanction in a medical malpractice case for allegedly violating court orders and other misconduct.
A decade of questionable surgeries
