U.S. med-mal claims seen falling in 2005
The number of medical malpractice claims in the U.S. is on track to fall slightly in 2005, according to a report released today from Aon Corp., the first decline since the Chicago-based insurance brokerage company began conducting the annual study six years ago.
A civil malpractice suit against Pratt surgeon Dr. Pat Barker has ended in favor of Barker. The jury of seven women and five men found that Barker was not negligent in his surgical care during a hernia surgery performed on Mary Ann Rojas in 2003.
Governor slated to sign medical malpractice reform
August 25, 2005 (ALTON, Ill.) — Governor Rod Blagojevich is scheduled to sign legislation today that's designed to fight the rising cost of medical malpractice insurance.
