Medical malpractice case filings down
The number of medical malpractice verdicts declined and the percentage of verdicts in favor of health-care providers increased in Philadelphia last year, according to recently released statistics from the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.
Former city worker accuses podiatrists of malpractice
A civil trial is underway in Vanderburgh Circuit Court between a former City of Evansville employee and two local podiatrists. The former meter reader claims surgeries the podiatrists performed on her feet in the late 1990s rendered her unable to work.
Change in malpractice law caps damages
Internist Timothy Tyrrell said he has apologized to a patient before because he believes in admitting what he could have done better. "Patients respond better to frankness and openness," he said. "Many patients don't want to lay blame. They just want to know what happened."
