2nd Circuit Rejects Malpractice Suit Against Plaintiffs Firms
A federal appeals court has ruled that two prominent New York plaintiffs firms are not liable to former clients for failing to sue accounting firm Arthur Andersen in a securities fraud suit stemming from the largest Ponzi scheme in U.S. history.
Avis Launches Probe Into 'Malpractice'
Shares in car hire firm Avis Europe fell after it revealed it was looking into possible "malpractice" at its subsidiary in Portugal. A number of its managers in the country have been suspended while an investigation is carried out.

In December 2004, former inmate Kimberly Grey filed a federal lawsuit against PHS, the jail's former medical director and the sheriff. Grey gave birth over a jail toilet in March 2004 after complaining for hours that she felt ill. Her infant son died en route to a hospital.
