Marsh to help state break malpractice insurance monopoly
The government has selected international insurance brokers Marsh to advise it on a reform aimed at breaking the monopoly in the field of medical malpractice insurance.
Medical lawsuit clears legal challenge
YELLOWKNIFE – The Northwest Territories Supreme Court has dismissed an attempt to throw out a $2-million medical malpractice lawsuit. The lawsuit was launched by the family of an 18-year-old man who died in 1996, shortly after being medevaced from Yellowknife to an Edmonton Hospital.
No cap, but no hike in payouts
Payouts for medical malpractice claims remain lower in Oregon than in all but seven other states, despite the loss of a cap on damage awards in 1999.
