Napolitano vetoes malpractice burden-of-proof bill
Gov. Janet Napolitano has axed a bill backed by doctors and hospitals that would have made it harder to bring malpractice cases against emergency room physicians and nurses.
New Report Confirms: Medical Malpractice Insurance 'Crisis' Is Over
Americans for Insurance Reform (AIR) released a new study today confirming the wholesale decline of medical malpractice insurance rates nationwide. The AIR study also shows that this phenomenon is occurring whether or not states enacted restrictions on patients' legal rights, such as "caps" on compensation. The medical malpractice insurance "crisis" is over, according to the study.
Jury finds hospital, nurse not at fault
A hospital and one of its nurses were found to not be at fault Thursday in a medical malpractice suit involving a brain-damaged baby.
