Compromise plan would hold down malpractice costs
SALEM (AP) Two state senators one a doctor, the other a lawyer are quietly pushing a compromise plan on malpractice reform, a hot topic both in Oregon and on the national stage.

In response to a lawsuit filed by The Record, the state Division of Consumer Affairs has released information on malpractice claims paid by insurers on behalf of New Jersey licensed physicians over the five years between March 1999 and March 2004. State law requires that all such payments be reported to the agency, which has oversight responsibility for the medical profession.
