Bill raising malpractice cap clears first hurdle
DENVER - Despite fierce opposition from doctors, a bill changing compensation for impairment or disfigurement from medical malpractice cleared its first hurdle Monday.
The Alabama Supreme Court on Friday threw out a $13.7 million jury award against a doctor, nurse and health care company sued in the 1998 medical malpractice death of a 17-year-old high school student.
