Governor Signs New Law Capping Malpractice Suits
ALTON, Ill. - Gov. Rod Blagojevich on Thursday signed a new law that attempts to hold down steep medical malpractice costs for doctors by limiting the amount of money people can collect in lawsuits against hospitals and physicians.

The Mississippi Supreme Court has agreed to hear the appeal of a Meridian doctor and clinic, who were sued by a woman who complained that postoperative care after her hip replacement was substandard.
State can intervene, object when broker seeks to expunge claim from record
Saying stockbrokers should be barred from hiding their mistakes, Attorney General Douglas F. Gansler lauded a federal appeals court for allowing state regulators to intervene in malpractice settlements in an attempt to make sure the action stays on the broker’s national record.
