State orders malpractice insurer to lower rates
(AP) — Using a new law designed to lower doctors' costs, state regulators on Tuesday ordered Illinois' major malpractice insurer to start bringing down rates next year and open itself to more public scrutiny.
Attorney cleared of malpractice
A judge has dismissed a lawsuit against a local attorney accused of malpractice.
70 percent rate hike considered
The state attorney general s office and the Medical Malpractice Joint Underwriting Association of Rhode Island, the state s insurer of last resort, have agreed on a 70-percent hike, effective Oct. 1, for the insurance rates applied to hospitals, nursing homes and other facilities.
