Medical liability reform bill killed
The state House yesterday effectively killed a medical-malpractice liability reform bill, as lawmakers contended it was not the answer to the state's shortage of medical specialists in rural areas and on the Neighbor Islands.
ALBANY -- New Yorkers know less about which doctors have been investigated for medical malpractice than people in other states do, and the agency responsible for disciplining physicians does little to root out misconduct and malpractice, according to state officials.
