MACM cuts malpractice rates again
RIDGELAND — Medical Assurance Company of Mississippi (MACM) is reducing its medical liability insurance rates across the board by 10% for 2007. The board of directors approved this action September 6, 2006.
$116M is awarded in stroke suit
TAMPA - A jury on Friday awarded a $116-million medical malpractice verdict to the family of a Tampa man who attorneys argued became a paraplegic after an unlicensed hospital worker misdiagnosed a stroke as sinusitis.
Patel extradition could take two years, Govt says
The Queensland Government says it could be two years before Dr Jayant Patel is brought back to the state to face charges. There have been serious malpractice allegations made against Dr Patel, who was head of surgery at the Bundaberg Base Hospital, in the state's south-east, between 2003-2005.
