Maryland's doctors fear insurance hike as subsidy ends
The state's medical society said it fears that medical malpractice insurance rates may creep back up in 2009 and 2010 as a state subsidy awarded to doctors ends later this year.
Baucus, Enzi team up on bill on medical malpractice suits
WASHINGTON - Sens. Max Baucus, D-Mont., and Mike Enzi, R-Wyo., introduced legislation Thursday that would provide grants to 10 states to set up pilot projects designed to answer the problem of medical malpractice lawsuits.
Screening panels consider negligence
Not all medical injuries are malpractice. "It's not easy to tell a patient, `You have a harm but it's not anybody's fault,'" says Marilyn Ashcroft, a medical injury screening panel judge for 15 years in Maine.
