Tort reform group takes Madison County off ‘judicial hellhole’ list
EDWARDSVILLE — Ann Callis knows Madison County’s court system has taken mighty public knocks, from President Bush branding it an example of medical malpractice litigation run amok to a special-interest group calling the venue a “judicial hellhole.”
Mother infected with flesh-eating bacteria sues hospital, owners
The young mother who entered the hospital to give birth but wound up infected with a flesh-eating bacteria that required doctors to amputate all four of her limbs sued the hospital and its owner today, alleging medical malpractice.
Weak regulators are among the worst things that can inflict markets, because malpractice does not get punished properly, and fear of the regulator does not keep market participants confined to the straight and narrow.
