Medical Malpractice Debate Looming
Lawyers are writing checks in anticipation of a possible election battle over medical malpractice lawsuit limits. That's in reaction to threats by The Arizona Medical Association to put the issue on the November ballot.
Claim settlements OK'd in 544 malpractice cases
A judge has approved a $185 million settlement of 544 cases by the MIIX Group, a beleaguered medical malpractice company. There was no opposition to the agreement worked out by the state Department of Banking and Insurance and approved by Superior Court Judge Neil H. Shuster on Tuesday.
Malpractice costs not so clear-cut, studies say
Medical malpractice payouts are not the reason doctors' malpractice premiums rise but can affect where doctors practice, two national studies released last week say.
