Doctors, insurers join GOP push to cap big jury awards
SALEM — State Sen. Alan Bates, D-Ashland, a physician, plans to offer an amendment to a bill subsidizing medical malpractice premiums that would continue to cover primary care and OB/GYN physicians in Ashland.

Staff physicians at the Marshall University and West Virginia University schools of medicine should see their medical malpractice insurance premiums drop by more than 50 percent, under a soon-to-be-finalized agreement with the state Board of Risk and Insurance Management.
