Legislature OKs malpractice aid
Steven Nickol sponsored the bill to help doctors. Dec 20, 2005 — Doctors would get state subsidies for the fourth straight year to help cover the cost of malpractice insurance under a bill that Gov. Ed Rendell is expected to sign this week.
Two years after Nevada voters approved monetary limits in medical malpractice cases, no legal challenges to the law have been filed. That's a pity for doctors, who for once would like to see a lawsuit on this issue.
Lawsuits drive out health care providers
An increase in medical malpractice lawsuits is causing some Tennessee health care providers to close their practices. Practitioners of obstetrics and gynecology are closing their offices or moving their practices "because of the high cost of medical liability insurance and the risk of being sued," according to the proposed "Healthy Mothers and Healthy Babies Rural Access to Care" (SA 6373)
