Raising cigarette, hospital taxes before budget committee
MADISON, Wis. (AP) - The Legislature’s Joint Finance Committee is wrapping up its work on the budget with some hefty agenda items today. They include higher cigarette prices, a heavily-opposed tax on hospitals and a controversial transfer from a fund meant to compensate victims of malpractice.
