Premier Physicians Insurance Co. was created in 2006 as a self-help defense to the medical malpractice crisis. Doctors themselves took advantage of Nevada’s insurance statutes, which allowed them to create a captive insurance company to lower premiums and manage the risk of their own malpractice.
