N.Y. Panel Finds Ex-Client Waived Privilege by Suing Chadbourne & Parke
A former client of Chadbourne & Parke waived its right to attorney-client privilege when it sued the firm over legal advice, a divided appeals court in Manhattan has ruled. Creditanstalt Investment Bank alleged that the law firm gave it erroneous advice about the legality of investments in Russian securities, but said its malpractice claim did not place at issue legal advice on other subjects.
