Remember John Edwards? He’s the telegenic, youngish lawyer with the good hair. Made a killing in medical malpractice. Represented North Carolina in the Senate from 1998 to 2004 before signing on as John Kerry’s running mate in ‘04 after a spirited - albeit long shot - run for the top job that same year.
